Why does Lifeline collect Peanut Butter?

  • High in protein and calories; 6 tablespoons are equal to a 3 oz pork chop in protein.

  • Protein is lacking in the diet of most Haitians.

  • Peanut butter is rich in other vitamins and minerals, like vitamins B & E; Malnourished infants, toddlers, children, women, and families are given jars of peanut butter weekly, along with other foods such as canned meats, formula, baby cereal, rice, beans, and other grains (as funds or resources are available).

  • Most every American adult or child can afford to contribute at least one jar of peanut butter

  • A fun project for all ages!

The Sticky Stats of how Lifeline uses the Peanut Butter in Haiti:

Please note: these stats were all pre-earthquake.  The need is even greater now for peanut butter and Kids Against Hunger food.

  • 500 toddlers receive a weekly supply of peanut butter.  Raisins, canned meats and/or other nutritious foods high in iron and protein are given when available.

  • 500+ malnourished, pregnant, and anemic women receive peanut butter, grains and Kids Against Hunger food each week at clinic.  Canned meat and sun-dried raisins are also given when available.

  •  50+ Infants (old enough to eat it) receive peanut butter each week.

  • 75 jars are given to the Lovelink Children’s Home each month.

  • 100+ jars of peanut butter are given out through Lifeline's Disaster Relief Program.

  • 250+ families receive peanut butter each week in the Family Nutrition Programs.

  • Several hundred jars are given out quarterly to very needy children in our schools.

  • Lifeline shares peanut butter with other missions.

How can I get Involved?

  • Collect peanut butter in your church, youth groups, schools, community organizations, Bible studies, scout groups, 4-H groups, etc.

  • Collect a special offering for Lifeline’s Peanut Butter Drive.

  • Volunteer!  Volunteers are needed throughout the year to package peanut butter and other ministry supplies in Lifeline’s warehouse to ship to Haiti.
