10 for 10

Two years ago, a mission team, made up of churches from the Houston, Texas area, traveled to Haiti with Lifeline.   Part of their time was spent constructing and dedicating homes that team members had funded.

That trip sparked an idea.

If a couple team members could provide homes for some Haitian families, what could a group of churches do together?

Upon their return home from the trip, the churches gathered and determined that they wanted to fund more homes.  For two years they raised the money to build 10 more houses for 10 needy families.   They returned to Haiti July 20–29, 2017 to see it all come to fruition!   They were able to help with the construction on some of the houses during their trip, while some of the 10 homes were started prior to their arrival in Haiti.  What was special is that they participated in the dedication for all of the homes with the families!

On the Saturday afternoon that the team was in Haiti, these 10 needy families were invited to Lifeline’s campus.  The team members were able to meet the families and pray with each them.  They also brought some snacks and small gifts for each family.  This special time together laid the foundation for building relationships with these families, and for the families to meet those who worked hard to raise the funds for their new home.

Lynette, the leader of this team, expressed her thanks in a conversation with Keith Dimbath, Lifeline’s Vice President of Missionary Development.  She shared her appreciation for all that went in to making it possible to build and dedicate all of these homes in a relatively short period of time.  She felt that the experience exceeded her, and the team’s, expectations.   Lynette said that the team will be back in two years, and they have set the goal even higher: they are praying and hoping to raise the funds for 20 houses to be built for 20 needy families!  Thank you to this team for coming alongside the Haitian families and Lifeline’s Homes ministry in such a powerful way!  They truly made an impact in the lives of the families who received the houses.

Also, a big word of thanks goes out to the Homes ministry staff in Grand Goave, Haiti.  They worked hard and overcame several challenges to get these houses built; the staff went far above and beyond to make this happen.

And all thanks goes to God for His leading and provision to bless the lives of these families.

You and/or your church can also rally together to construct homes for a needy Haitian families!
