Christmas in Honduras: 2017

Sponsors: please read this important update about your gift distribution

Shared by Brenda, Lifeline's Volunteer Mission Team Coordinator

The ladies team who went to Honduras in October enjoyed lots of great interaction and relationship building with your sponsored children!

Christmas celebration

At Ocotillo Christian School there was a gala celebration with the entire school body involved.  All classes were represented through songs, costumes, dances, skits.  The parents were invited to attend the celebration, as well as the Gospel was presented to all.  It was a wonderful, festive time to celebrate the reason for the birth of Jesus.  Every child received a gift and candy cane whether that gift came from their sponsor or was from our storage pantry; smiles were abounding!

Christmas celebration

At Gonzales Christian School, it was quite different this year.  Songs were sung acapella with the children and parents that were able to attend.  Torrential rains had caused severe flooding in parts of San Pedro Sula and many of the children at the school were unable to attend.  But, the Lord was there, the Gospel went forth, lots of laughter and hugs were shared, and the children received their gifts!  For those who were unable to attend, a second day was scheduled after the rains subsided.  During the second gift day, one little girl was so excited to receive food bags from her sponsor that she was jumping up and down and nearly forgot left without taking her other gift bag!

Christmas celebration

It is important and special for the children that they are remembered by their sponsors.  A letter or a gift says that Jesus does not forget, He provides, He is a God who knows and cares, He is a God upon whom they can depend.  Your interaction with your sponsor children and their families is overwhelmingly important to them.  Thank you for taking the time and putting in the effort of sending your child food bags, letters, pictures, or a gift.  Thank you for being involved in their lives and making the statement to them, “Jesus cares for you.”  And thank you for all the donations above and beyond your child sponsor gifts that make up the storage pantry to provide for those children who are not sponsored, or do not receive a gift.

May each of us continually use the resources, talents and gifts, that God has given to us for His glory and His pleasure in serving others.
