From sponsored child to principal
Written by Guillermo Pineda, Ocotillo Christian School Principal
I consider myself a blessed person. I started school in first grade in 1998 and now, in 2018, I am the principal at the same school – Lifeline’s school in Ocotillo, Honduras.
When I started my education, I also attended Sunday school and later I was sponsored through the sponsorship program. During those years, my mother was going through a very difficult time and she couldn’t buy me shoes, but the school helped me.
In 2008, I was baptized by pastor Antonio Orellana, that was the most important moment of my history.
In 2011, as I was working in housekeeping, I decided to start studying at the university to become a teacher and in 2012, I taught some classes at Lifeline’s Gonzales school. After a lot of effort and hard work, I received my university degree in 2015.
I became vice principal at Lifeline’s school in Gonzales. The student’s lives were difficult. In some cases I was able to help, others only Jesus was able to overcome.
"Last year I told Guillermo to pray about being the principal, and in January 2018 he answered me with a yes. In that moment, I lost my job as a principal, and I feel joyful because God is producing more leaders for His Kingdom.” - Darwyn, Assistant Country Director
God has blessed me for 20 years through Lifeline: a student, leader, counselor, teacher, and now principal. God is good in everything; He has proved that all my life.
