Honduras Sponsors: Christmas Gifts Delayed

Honduras sponsors: Your sponsor gifts for the July/Christmas gift deadline have been delayed due to customs issues with the Honduran government

Typically, your gifts sent for the July/Christmas gift deadline are delivered to your sponsored children in October/November, which is before the school is over.  Unfortunately, due to issues with customs in Honduras, your gifts have not arrived yet.  Your gifts sent for the July/Christmas gift deadline will be distributed in February/March 2017 when the next mission teams are there.

But Christmas was NOT cancelled!

So that the children know that you are thinking and praying for them, a small, donated gift was given on your behalf to each child in our Honduran schools.  Brenda, Lifeline's Volunteer Field Coordinator, shares about distributing these donated gifts to your children...

When Darwyn Sanchez, Honduran School Administrator, asked the children if they liked receiving gifts, a roar broke forth that echoed off the rafters of the church.  The children repeated a prayer of thanksgiving for the Christmas gift God had provided, and  'Gl-o-r-i-a' was sung by the children, as music and worship was presented by the students and staff.  Skits were performed and Bible stories told.  Then, Darwyn, with the help of a stuffed bear named Oso Cafe (meaning Brown Bear), went on to explain that God gives us many kinds of gifts.  He gives us joy, peace, strength, comfort, help, protection.  However, the most important gift was His Son, and through the death and resurrection of God's Son, He gives us His Spirit.

Christmas gift distribution 2016 did not go exactly according our plan.  Due to a series of circumstances, your Christmas gifts have not yet arrived in Honduras.  Yet the school year was drawing to an end and the annual Christmas gift was not going to be available upon leaving for winter break.  But God's ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8).  On the last week of school, we began to count the pantry gifts that have been donated and stored in Honduras that that are used for children who are waiting for a sponsor.  It seemed like an endless and meaningless task, as it looked as if there was no way enough gifts could be found for 845 children.  But God multiplied the 'fishes' and there were enough gifts counted for each child.  By the end of the last week of school, gifts and candy were distributed to the children at Gonzales and Ocotillo Christian Schools.  The children were happy.

The above is shared not only as a testimony of God's Sovereignty and His compassion for the children, but to give thanks to all those who volunteer, donate, send and buy extra gifts throughout the year to be used as gifts for any of the children.  It was because of your faithfulness, and willingness to give that Christmas came to Honduras this year.

On behalf of the Lifeline Staff and the children, thank you and may the Lord bless you for blessing the children.
