Meals for Texas: Thank you!

Thank you! Nearly 80,000 meals will be packed for families affected by Hurricane Harvey!

Due to the generosity of many people throughout the U.S. and Canada, thousands of these meals have been delivered to Texas, while the rest will soon be packed by churches throughout the U.S.

Last week, Mike, our Mission Trip Manager, traveled to Needville, Texas with a small team from Lifeline to assist with relief efforts and deliver the food you packaged. He shares...

It's been an experience being here in Texas. Lots and lots of water damage and such; it's a heavy burden on the people here.

Our team has joined with people from Arkansas and Illinois, bringing the total group size to 19. At this point we have gutted 4 houses and, in 3 of those, the drywall was completely taken out from the floor to the ceiling. All carpet, laminated flooring, cabinets, etc. is removed as well.

All the houses we have been to were flooded from a nearby river. One house we worked in today had 4 feet of water standing in it these past two weeks. All the contents of the house we pile up along the road along with drywall, insulation, trash, etc. Who will pick up these piles and when is in question: county? FEMA? Burn it?

The Creekside church has been helping the surrounding communities in phases:

Phase 1 - they housed just under 100 people for a few days.

Phase 2 - Volunteers from the church family joined with many teams from different states to do demo/cleanup. By the end of this week over 50 houses will be gutted out.

Phase 3 - They have been serving food to people in different locations. They set up in an area and grill hamburgers and provide other food as well. This will continue for the next 3 Saturday's.

Greg (Creekside's pastor) was appreciative of the food that was packed for the people here. The church will be distributing it, and we have it loaded in a trailer, ready to head that way. They are headed to a location we worked at, and it's pretty devastated. He said it would all be distributed quickly.

For the future: Greg said that they have been really blessed with workers, supplies, and finances. He feels at this point, the best way to help going forward, is to continue to lift the people up in prayer.

Many lives have have been turned upside down here, but God is definitely working here as well!

Thank you, again, for your prayers and donations to help families affected by Hurricane Harvey!

If you would like to continue to help these families get back on their feet, you can directly help Creekside Christian Fellowship's relief efforts: donate to their church Hurricane Harvey fund.

We are working with Creekside Christian Fellowship in Needville, Texas to distribute these meals you have donated towards and packaged. Why Creekside? Greg Garcia, lead pastor at Creekside, has a special place in our hearts. Greg has been a mentor and coach for Brad Jones, our pastor at LIFEhouse Christian Church in Winslow, Arizona. When we heard Creekside was impacted by Hurricane Harvey, we wanted to come alongside to help them and be part of their efforts to show Jesus' love to their community.
