This Took Us By Surprise!

Our Honduran students finished the year* with a special celebration, but something took Darwyn, our Director of Schools in Honduras, by surprise: our students had never experienced this before?

Darywn shares...

On November 11, the students and teachers celebrated their last day of classes of this year.  At our Ocotillo school, our students had a very fun day: all of them brought food to share and they had a time full of friendship together. Everything was joy in all the classrooms.
We know that God's faithfulness has been with us every day this school year.  Personally, I have seen how God's hand had been taking care of each of our students:

Most of of our students live in such unfavorable situations and it is here, in school, where they can forget, for a moment, their daily battle.

Before this day arrived, my wife and I looked for ways to make this last day of classes a fun day. So we decided to rent a trampoline and a blow-up bounce house. We did not know what the impact was going to be.

One of the girls hugged me and told me "thanks" while another student told me "this is the most wonderful day that I have had" thanking me for having the opportunity to play and jump in this games. It was the first time for them.

When we rented these games in order to celebrate the last day of classes; we wanted the boys and girls to have a fun time.

We did not realize: for most of them it was the first time that they could enjoy of these games.

I am sure of this:

That morning, the kids had the opportunity to forget their hardships - houses where there is lack of meals, broken homes, families with alcohol problems, and kids being abused in different forms - and enjoy a wonderful time.

Our Gonzales students also had the opportunity to enjoy a Christmas program. Students participated with songs and choreographies celebrating Christmas and vacations.
They also had the opportunity to eat "tamales" together, which is a Honduran food made with corn flour, chicken, potatoes and rice. Made as a "burrito catracho."

It was a special day for the kids; it was full of surprises, games, clowns, face painting, balloons, popcorns and above all God's protection in their lives and ours.

Lifeline Schools in Honduras makes a difference, thanks to Jesus our Lord and Savior and each one of you: sponsor, donor, and volunteers. THANK YOU, for supporting God's wonderful work in Honduras.

Perhaps many of you haven't had the opportunity to visit us, but let me tell you that you are part of what God is doing in Lifeline Honduras.

Like the trampoline and bounce house, we don't know when Jesus uses us to give hope and joy to the kids and make a difference in their lives.
May God bless you all!
Darwyn

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
