"We are one family"
Recently, New Day Christian Church (FL) had the opportunity to serve the church and children they sponsor in Guatemala. Kesaia, our Central America Sponsorship Manager shares:
The week in Guatemala for the New Day mission team started with going to church on Sunday morning and greeting our brothers and sisters with hugs, as they welcomed the team "home" once again. There were tears of joy and smiles in the room.
As the week went on, VBS, home visits and prayers were shared. The language barrier was a challenge but not an obstacle, and God kept reminding us about His grace every day through His people.
On the last day of the trip, one of the ladies from the Guatemala shared a message at a house church. She was encouraging us to encourage others because when we put others' problems first, we forget about our own problems; when we put others' illnesses first, we forget about our own; and when we encourage others we are encouraged.
God has called us to serve Him where we are. No matter how much we have, He wants us to be willing to be used by Him.
After two years of having the opportunity to serve together, God has showed us "how good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity". We have laughed together and cried together, we have broken bread together, we pray for each other, we share our needs and share how good our Father has been to us.
We are not two churches from different countries, we are one body, His temple, His flock; we are one family. To be able to share this fellowship together is a blessing that can only come from the Lord.
