Keep Praying! Hurricane Matthew Update

Dear friends,

Keep praying!  Hurricane Matthew, a Category 4 hurricane, made landfall and is slowly passing over Haiti.

Our staff & mission team

Our staff and mission team at our Grand Goave campus are all doing well, as they are riding out the storm.  Keith, our Vice President of Missionary Development who is in Haiti, called with an update this morning:

The wind is really howling and the rain is pouring down. From what we can tell, there is no major damage to any of our buildings on the campus; our generator is running and our water supply is fine.  The lights are on at the children's home so their generator is working, too.

Please note:  We've learned that cell phone and internet communications are now down in Haiti. Therefore, direct your questions and comments to  Connect@Lifeline.org, rather than our staff in Haiti.

Our friends in Haiti

Although our staff and team are safe, many of you have experienced Haiti or have seen their traditional-style homes in a photograph.  We can hardly imagine riding out Hurricane Matthew in a lean-to shanty or tent, which is what many Haitians call their home.  Please keep praying for our Haitian friends and your sponsored child and their family.  We pray God's protection over them!

What's next?

As our leadership team in Haiti prepared for the storm, they laid out a plan for emergency relief efforts.  They shared that food and clean water would be the initial priority for the Haitian families, and then shelter and reconstruction.

We know that you want to bless the children and families in Haiti.  As the storm calms and the leadership team shares their specific needs - such as needing nutritious meals to shipped to Haiti, reconstruction of churches/schools, and home building - we will share them with you.  But for now, we wait alongside you...eager for the storm to pass and eager to hear from our friends and loved ones in Haiti.

Keep praying...

Please keep praying through the waiting!  Pray for the children, families, staff, and ministries in Haiti.  And pray for Cuba, as Hurricane Matthew heads there next, where we have several house churches with leaders, friends and loved ones.  Pray for them as they prepare and anticipate the storm.

Praying together,
The Lifeline Family

P.S. Keep sharing these updates with others!  You'll find the most up-to-date information online.
