Miracle in a bag

Miracle in a bag
Written by Andy Sims, Vice President of Leadership Development

Life is better together. So many around the world are feeling the strain of distancing or quarantine, but God still uses us on our own.

In Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Pastor Antonio has a heart for the hurting. He recently started reaching out to Los Diamantes, a nearby neighborhood which is very poor. He knew the economic hardship of COVID-19 would be devastating there.

Antonio went alone. He purchased 12 bags of food for families he had met there.

One of the bags of food was intended for a family of four. But Antonio didn’t realize how important that bag of food was...

For three days this family had nothing to eat but coffee. They didn't even have sugar to put in it. Desperate for anything, the parents decided to call Antonio. They  didn't know him well, but they saw his heart to help. Before they even called, their phone rang. It was Antonio who said "I'm on my way to your house right now. I'm bringing some food for you. God has provided."

This family experienced a miracle! Through this, they placed their faith in Christ and Antonio baptized the entire family this past weekend!

And it all started with one person...with just 12 bags...serving God...on his own.

Take time to focus on what you can do; not on what you can't do. Pray for a miracle in every bag.

Antonio continues to share meals with families in Los Diamantes. On Easter Sunday, a much anticipated container of Lifeline meals arrived in Honduras! Lifeline’s 14 Honduran churches are sharing it to meet needs in their communities, along with families in Los Diamantes.

You too can help provide meals to Honduras and throughout our other ministry locations: Donate today or pack meals at your church or our location! Contact mealpack@lifeline.org to learn about Lifeline’s innovative way to safely pack meals in light of COVID-19!
