Nueva Vida, In the Mountains of Honduras

Written by Kesaia Cojon, Honduras Together Manager

In the beautiful mountains of northern Honduras is the community of Nueva Vida. Living there means living off of the land. This community is a 2-hour drive from any city. Purchasing even the basics of rice and beans requires nearly a day’s time round-trip. This area has no electricity or medical services. The people there need to hear the Gospel! Even though it is a tight community, the people of Nueva Vida can feel isolated and forgotten.

Lifeline mealsThe church leaders and youth from Lifeline Christian Church in Omoa wanted to help the people of Nueva Vida. We recently had the incredible opportunity to take Lifeline meals to them! One of our church members knew someone there, and he made the arrangements for our visit.

On that day, we carried 350 pounds of food in our
backpacks and hiked up the mountain. It was truly an adventure! We didn’t expect it to be so challenging. Once we arrived and saw the families waiting for us, we knew that every minute of the hike was worth it. Besides providing the meals, we were able to share the Word of God and sing praises together! The people in the community welcomed us and thanked us for not forgetting about them.

We are thankful that we could provide one of the most desired needs for many people in these mountains: food.

Please continue praying for Lifeline Christian Church in Omoa. We feel the desire to return and help again. We pray that the people of "Nueva Vida" (which means "new life") truly do find new life through the Gospel!
