The Bible Institute: Developing Leaders for God's Church

Written by Ebelina Arteaga, Honduras Together Manager

Lifeline’s Bible Institute in Honduras has 10 new students! They began their Bible training in February 2022 and are eager to study the Bible and to learn to reach more people for the kingdom of God.
They come from Lifeline churches across Honduras in the cities of Santa Cruz de Yojoa, el Merendon, Ocotillo, and Tegucigalpa (Los Diamantes and Santa Lucia). One of the students attends a non-Lifeline church in Yoro.

On their first day at the Institute, Lifeline pastors and teachers welcomed the students and their parents. Together, they talked about the Institute’s expectations of them and about the students’ personal expectations as well.

The pastors also congratulated their parents for supporting their children’s decision to enroll in the Institute. They all know that the program will strengthen the students' faith and Bible knowledge, and that it will prepare them well to better serve the Lord.

Meet our new students!

Tiriza (15)
is from a non-Lifeline church (Palabra Miel Church, in Yoro, Honduras). She plans to continue living with her family, work with children in Sunday School, and would one day like to be a doctor or psychologist.

She said,
“I was motivated to study at the Bible Institute because of my passion to learn more about God and His love. When I graduate from the Institute, I want to serve in my church’s worship ministry. My relationship with God has changed my life. God has helped me progress in life and has blessed my family and me.”

WendyWendy (19) is from Santa Lucia Church in Tegucigalpa. Her mother was very young when Wendy was born, and she left Wendy in the care of her aunt. Wendy did not finish primary school. A neighbor taught her about God and how to read. Her aunt, however, was not a Christian and did not allow Wendy to attend church. So, Wendy learned about God on the radio and through Christian music.

After some time, the neighbor gave her a Bible and started to read Genesis to her. Wendy fell in love with God and decided to be baptized despite her aunt's objections. Although her aunt resisted Wendy enrolling in the Bible Institute, Wendy was determined! She explained that as an adult, she was able to make her own choices. Now, as a student at the Institute, she prays for her family to know God and understand His love and mercy. After finishing at the Bible Institute, she wants to finish her high school degree and be an evangelist.

Wendy said, “I want to strengthen my faith and learn more about the Bible. I want to tell people about God. I am the only Christian in my family, and I want to reach them for the kingdom of God. I thank God because my family allowed me to come to San Pedro Sula and study in the Bible Institute."

Rony (16), from Santa Cruz de Yojoa Church, plans to serve on the worship team at his church and become a missionary. For income, he plans to become an electrical technician.

About the Institute, he said, “I was motivated to study here because I want to learn more about the Bible and I want to teach others about God's love.”
