Jenny López, age twenty-seven, had spent years dreaming of opening her own beauty salon. But her lack of proper equipment meant she couldn't compete with other salons in her area, and potential clients kept walking away to find fuller-service options elsewhere.

Jenny was determined to build a different future for herself. During school breaks, she learned hair and nail skills. Later, she worked at a local salon and used her own wages to pay for formal beauty courses.
As her skills grew, she faced a difficult dilemma. Though she was talented enough to run her own salon, she couldn’t afford the tools or equipment she needed to get started.
Without them, she was stuck earning just enough to get by, unable to provide steady support for her family.
A Step of Faith
With encouragement from her pastor, Jenny took a leap of faith. She and her sister moved to Tegucigalpa and started a small salon together. However, they lacked the essentials such as chairs, client stations, quality dryers, and nail supplies. Without these items, she could only offer limited services, causing customers to choose other salons instead, making it difficult to build a loyal client base and grow her business.
That is when Jenny learned about Lifeline’s Economic Empowerment Program. She enrolled in practical business training where she studied financial planning, marketing, and even how to use social media to reach new clients. With the help of a microloan, Jenny purchased the equipment she needed to take her business to the next level.
