Lifeline in San Pedro Sula

San Pedro Sula is one of two major metropolitan cities in Honduras. While Tegucigalpa, the Honduran capital, is the center of government and business, San Pedro Sula and the surrounding region is full of industry. Nearby ports enable importing and exporting of manufactured goods. Some portions of San Pedro Sula are very modern and developed, but the majority of the population are hard-working laborers and business owners. 

Lifeline’s ministry in Honduras began in Ocotillo, a poor neighborhood on the outskirts of San Pedro Sula. Ocotillo was originally a “squatter's settlement,” land provided by the government to poor or homeless families who needed a fresh start. Unable to handle the tremendous needs of the people in this area, the city gave Lifeline property in Ocotillo so that we could provide a school, clinic, and church to meet needs and to develop that community. 

Ocotillo remains the hub of Lifeline’s ministry in Honduras. On Lifeline’s main Ocotillo campus are many facilities for the community: a private Christian school (preschool through high school); a multi-service medical clinic (including dental, pharmacy, medical lab, and soon, surgery and eye care); Ocotillo Christian Church; and the Ocotillo Training Center which is used for the Bible Institute, Economic Empowerment offices, and vocational training. Additionally, Lifeline has many churches across the country.
