KarenKaren serves on our Finance Team.

You keep ministry momentum moving when you support the ministry of our stateside missionaries: our Lifeline staff who dedicate their lives 24/7 to restoring hope around the world. Your prayers and donations enable our staff to be your hands and feet, as God's love is shared through Lifeline's ministry communities!

Karen shares:

I first heard about Lifeline listening to our local Christian radio station in December 1997. I felt a tug on my heart and knew that I was supposed to sponsor a child. When I called the office, I was connected with a little girl named Ivelie from the Deuxieme Plaine region. She was 4 years old and so cute.

The following Spring, I was in a car accident and, faced with my mortality, decided I wanted to go on a mission trip before I died. I contacted Lifeline and was immediately asked if I wanted to go on the women's team that November, and that started my love for traveling and serving with Lifeline.

I was overwhelmed by all the sights, sounds and smells of Haiti. The people were so friendly, giving and joyful, even in the midst of hard times, and I loved every moment of it!  And it was amazing to meet Ivelie.

Over the years, I have made so many wonderful friends from Haiti and Honduras, and now many other countries in which Lifeline serves and I looked forward to seeing them each year. I have sponsored 7 children from both Haiti and Honduras and that has been a highlight watching them grow up, follow God, and make a difference in their country.

A couple highlights of my mission trips have been:

Surviving the Haiti earthquake in 2010. It was an experience that I will always remember. How 58 women banded together and trusted the Lord, along with amazing Haitian men and women who watched over us like guardian angels. During this traumatic, sad, and devastating time, it was awesome to watch how the Lord was there in our midst, ministering and caring for us and the Haitian people. Sometime ask me about this experience and about Hurricane Matthew in 2016!

Another favorite memory is going on a mission trip along with my sister, daughter, and granddaughter. That was a very special time that I will always cherish and share with them. Being part of the Homes for Haiti ministry from the beginning, we have had the opportunity to participate in and build several homes over the years for our sponsored families and other needy families. My family was able to participate in the construction of one of these homes we built in honor of our mother on that trip. This is a special way to make a difference for a family and provide them with safe and secure shelter.

Of course, it has always been an honor working alongside of and serving Lifeline’s founders, Bob and Gretchen DeVoe all these years. They have had a huge influence on my life! God has been so good to me! Lifeline has big plans for the future and God is moving! Thank you for being a part of expanding His kingdom and joining the team to further the Gospel!

May God bless you!
