Local church leaders know their community's needs: spiritual, physical and emotional/mental. They identify, develop and drive the BeFriend initiatives.
3-year commitment
Your church befriends the church leaders for 3 years, providing financial support, encouragement and prayer.
Focus on sustainability
The projects and initiatives are designed to be sustainable after your 3-year commitment has ended. The key to breaking the cycle of poverty and dependency is empowerment!
Your church could collect their contributions by…
-
inviting church members to contribute a monthly portion (for example, 30 individuals giving $40/month)
-
drawing from the church budget
-
a combination of church members’ donations and drawing from the church budget
-
splitting the monthly amount with another church (see the next question)
While there is some variation with each BeFriend project, the general breakdown includes:
30% funds the ministry and projects of your BeFriend community as they become self-sustaining
20% strengthens the local mission through new infrastructure development
20% invests in transformative new initiatives
20% advocates for BeFriend through Lifeline
10% advances the country leadership that supports the BeFriend community
BeFriend is a two-way relationship!
-
Lifeline sends you regular updates, photos and impact stories
-
