A Heart For His People

When you pack meals with Lifeline, many of those meals reach places like Las Uvas, Honduras, where the meals are meeting real nutritional needs while also opening doors to the Gospel.

Las Uvas is a beautiful small farming community in southern Honduras. Farmers depend on their harvests of corn and beans for their incomes and sustenance.

Pastor Antonio Elvir was born in Las Uvas. He lived there until the age of thirteen, and most of his relatives and many friends still live there.

Because this community is important to him, every month he drives a truck full of Lifeline meals to share with those in need.

Meals you pack provide more than just nutrition!

"The poorest area in Honduras is in the south because it is a dry region. Every year in May and June, the food is scarcer due to droughts and lack of employment opportunities," he explained. This year's drought has been notably worse than droughts of the past. Lack of rainfall has undermined agricultural production and harvests.

But besides sharing Lifeline meals, he uses the opportunity to share the word of God. He preaches from the homes of local families. The impact of his preaching over the years is evident. His sister hosts a house church. And he is renovating his parents' house so that it can be used for monthly meetings and for evangelism.

Seventy families (350 people) were blessed by his visit last month.

"We trust that God will provide what is needed so that we can continue to preach the word of God and share Lifeline meals with the people in this community," he said.

When you pack meals with Lifeline, you are helping Pastor Antonio Elvir and others like him continue to proclaim and demonstrate the Good News through the distribution of Lifeline meals.
