A revolution in teaching

What an experience!

Three members of our Haitian school administration recently spent two days on the Haitian island of La Gonâve. This team observed and learned from Lekòl Kominotè Matènwa (Matènwa Community School), which has successfully and impressively experimented and implemented means of fostering creative and critical thinking, a love of reading and writing in the mother tongue (Haitian Creole), and student and community engagement.

observing a new educational style

After observation and a lengthy question and answer time, our team is eager to return - hopefully this school year - for more targeted training. They want to learn how to bring what they observed into our schools in Haiti!

Lucson, our Christian Education Coordinator, shared, "May God richly bless you for finding this place for us to have this experience.  Now we can make a revolution in teaching.... It was incredible."

This experience has energized the staff!  They are excited to implement training to improve the education for our Haitian students and hope to return for further training in the future.

You can provide additional training for these teachers!

Four of our best teachers from Grand-Goâve would like to attend a week-long training session provided by a uniquely successful school, The Matènwa Community Learning Center, on the island of La Gonâve, off the coast of Haiti.  This school has the support and research backing from MIT, and stands out in many ways from other schools in Haiti.

Through your donation, you can help these teachers learn hands-on, best educational practices that they will then share with our other teachers.
