Children Are a Gift From God

All children matter to God. All children have equal value in His eyes.

In Haiti, children born out of wedlock can experience discrimination. Haitian society tends to view them with less respect than children of married couples. For unmarried couples, deciding whether to get married often comes down to the issue of finances: they simply may not be able to afford to do so. They may opt to cohabitate until they can afford a traditional wedding and ceremony. This can take years. While some people have stable employment, many people are street vendors, market vendors, and day laborers.

Pastor LucPastor Luc leads Lifeline's Grand-Goâve Christian Church in Haiti. He is passionate about the youth ministry and helping youth follow God! During a recent Sunday sermon, he preached on the kingdom of God, telling the congregation that we are all loved and cared for by God.

Then, in a special ceremony, he invited the unmarried couples to present their children to the church. He encouraged the couples to marry when they are able. He also reminded the congregation that these children are a blessing from God and should be treated well. In response, the congregation applauded! Pastor Luc then prayed over them, asking God to bless them and help them become good citizens.

Grand-Goâve Christian Church plays a big role in the lives of the church members, both mentally and spiritually. They respect Pastor Luc and feel blessed to have him leading the church.
His message that day helped them understand that we are all equal in the sight of God and that His love is for everyone.
