COVID-19 President Update: April 21

Presidential Update Pic

Ben's pic
First, we are praying for you in this time of international disruption that we all face together.

Some of you may be facing uncertainties in employment or the future of your business.
We pray for your peace of mind and for provision.
Some are leading churches through this unique time.
We pray a special blessing on the local church.
Some of you are serving on the front lines of the pandemic treating people in need or keeping our grocery stores stocked.
We thank you for your service.
May all of us continue to be faithful and put our trust in Jesus.

So, what about Lifeline's situation?

Like so many non-profits and businesses, we have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 shutdown. Mission trips have been postponed through May, and several summer teams have rescheduled into the fall or 2021. Over 2 million much-needed meals won’t get packed in mid-March/April/May, and have been postponed into later 2020 or 2021. Both mission trips and meal packs are critical to the ministry impact in the field! These ministries also contribute to the operations of the ministry. This represents about 40% of our typical revenue stream.

To date, we have continued to make payroll. However, our weekly donation revenue has initially dropped 28.4%as weekly average donations of the 11 weeks pre-COVID of $140,767 slip to an average of $100,777 over that last three weeks.

In light of this situation:
  • You are playing a vital part in the future of the ministry; your encouragement, your further contributions in time and funding, and your prayers are so appreciated.
  • Cuts are being made where we can. Some projects are being delayed and things like reduced travel costs are helping. We will phase in additional expense trimming as necessary.
  • We are committed to maintaining all staff in all countries as long as possible.  We believe in our mission, we believe in our staff, and we believe in the Lord's provision. We are confident in a return to full ministry operations and/or an innovative adaptation of it.
  • We are committed to continuing all ministry programming. There are some changes that were in place prior to COVID-19 pandemic as we adapt ministry to reflect our learnings on CHE. But our commitment is to continue all our core ministries and causes.
  • To support the efforts of our field staff and church pastors, we are working on creative ways to pack meals and provide emergency relief in the form of benevolent funds.
  • We have applied for and obtained a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan/grant offered through the CARES act. This is a bridge to assist in maintaining staff and ministry.

While we expect the PPP to help, it will not cover the entire gap nor will it last as long as the anticipated impact of postponed meal packing events and mission trips. Current projections and trends would indicate a gap of $15,000 per week to sustain a basic operating level beyond the PPP funds and allow Lifeline’s staff to continue to minister in their communities.

We humbly ask you to consider being part of the solution through a special gift or increasing/setting up a recurring monthly gift. Perhaps that's being a bridge to cover a full week of $15,000 or a day of $2,142 or funding the future through a recurring gift $9 a week or month or more.
