Doing Business God's Way

Economic empowerment can help people overcome poverty. For one young mother, a stable future is starting to unfold!

Blanca (21) is a young Honduran mother with three young children. She and her husband live in her in-law’s house.
With seven people under the roof, the house is crowded.

Her husband works in agriculture, but their budget is too tight to allow for any change to their living situation. That’s just the way life can be in Honduras.

“I pray to have my own house one day,” Blanca said.

To help make that prayer come true, Blanca knew that God would do His part. But she also knew that she had to take action too. So, she began making plans to start a small business selling clothing items for children, women and men.

When Blanca heard about Lifeline’s economic empowerment training at the nearby Lifeline church, she jumped at the opportunity. She knew she needed to learn business and money management strategies if her business was to succeed.

The training and microloan that Blanca received were made possible by generous donors!

The training taught Blanca how to “do business God’s way”:
managing the business with integrity, following biblical principles, and honoring Him.

To her surprise, she received a microloan after the training to jump start her new venture.

“I thank God for the training,” Blanca said afterwards. “I am grateful for the lessons I learned and above all for my new business opportunity!”

Yet Blanca’s clothing business is in its infancy. The one microloan helped with immediate needs for the store, but her business plans call for more investment in order to attain her revenue goals.

After Blanca pays back the first loan, she will apply for another one. It’s a borrow / payback cycle coupled with accountability steps and business mentorship from the program trainers.

The microloan and training were provided by people like you who want Blanca and other entrepreneurs to break out of the cycle of poverty. More people like her are waiting for training and empowerment. Donate today to help!
