Gratitude Across the Generations

Syliana and daughter

Written by Raynald Metilus, Haiti Together Manager (as told by Marie-Syliana)

My name is Marie-Syliana. I want to tell you about the impact that education has had in my life.

When I was a young girl in the 1990s, my parents enrolled me in Lifeline Christian School in Grand-Goâve, Haiti. I attended this school for over eight years.

Being a student there was a wonderful experience. The staff and teachers always wanted the best for me, and I knew that. The daily hot meal and the excellent education helped me move forward in life.

At that time, other schools existed in Grand-Goâve, but they were expensive. Most families could not afford them. But, because Lifeline Christian School was very affordable, families were eager for their children to enroll there. Many Lifeline students have gone on to do great things to serve their community and country!

Lifeline Christian School continues to have an impact in Grand-Goâve! Two of my own children now attend this school. I am blessed that they can be in a school that teaches the word of God and helps them become good citizens for Haiti.

May God bless this mission and the supporters who help Lifeline continue to do this great work in my country. Thank you!
