I Am Very Grateful to God

Written by Mabel, Lifeline student and translator

My name is Mabel. I am 17 years old. I have been a student at Lifeline Christian School in Ocotillo, Honduras, since kindergarten. Now I am in the 12th grade and will graduate at the end of 2021! [Note: In Honduras, the school year runs from February through November. Mabel will graduate in November 2021.]

MabelI have loved being a student at this school. The teachers have been understanding, supportive and kind to me. When I was in 7th grade, I failed my English class; yet, I persevered and continued to take English classes. Over time, my English improved to the point that I was able to translate for visiting North American groups!

Now that I am ready to graduate, I am thinking about what I will miss at the school. I have met many friends there who mean a lot to me. I will miss my classmates and teachers. I am also going to miss the school garden, which is my favorite place at the school.

After graduation, finding a job will be difficult for me and my classmates, but we trust that God has great plans for us. We will strive to pursue higher education so that we can grow in knowledge and in our relationship with God.

I am very grateful to God first and also to the people who have helped me make it to this point in my life. I am also thankful for Lifeline and the opportunities it has given me. Being in this school has been a blessed experience!
