Inspiring Teachers Make all the Difference!

Written by Lorena Carrera, English teacher at Rey Sabio Salomón School, Ecuador

Anthony became a student at Rey Sabio Salomón, in Ecuador, in 8th grade.
To him, the school was new, interesting, and challenging. He enjoyed learning the word of God.

Anthony had always been passionate about sports. His passion even led him to train with professional soccer teams.

At school, his physical education teachers, Carla and Yessenia, were so joyful and altruistic in their teaching that they inspired Anthony to want to be a teacher, just like them.

So, when Anthony graduated from high school, he enrolled at Central University of Ecuador, where he is pursuing a degree in Physical Education.

At Rey Sabio Salomón, the staff and I are so proud and gratified that Anthony wants to be an educator! We were thrilled to have him do an education internship with us.

Anthony told us, “I want to thank Rey Sabio Salomón for allowing me to intern at the school. Through the internship, I learned from the teachers. I have more understanding of what it is to be a teacher, and so I am better prepared to pursue my dream career.”

During his internship, the staff encouraged Anthony to carry out interactive activities with the students. In the near future, he hopes to be able to do another internship (his pre-professional internship) at the school, with the hopes of one day being on the staff of Rey Sabio Salomón.

And beyond that, Anthony is already thinking about additional degrees! “After I finish this degree, I’d like to be able to continue studying sports, or maybe medicine or nutrition, which can enhance my degree in physical education,” he said.

Anthony's story and the influence of his teachers are inspiring. An excellent education and educators can set up kids to thrive beyond today.
