Meet Fabián: Teaching Beyond the Textbooks

Fabián was born in an indigenous community high in Ecuador's Andes mountains, in the shadow of the country’s highest peak. The Gospel of Jesus Christ came to this area years ago.

Fabián dreamed of being a teacher. Living 4 hours from the capital in such a remote area, Fabián knew his path would not be easy. Yet, he was undeterred, and he came to Quito with his wife and young son in search of opportunities. This is why God brought Fabián to our school, Rey Sabio Salomón.

He started as a tutor for our senior students in 2020 and is now a social studies teacher. He enjoys working with his students. He is known for giving advice to them and encouraging them to be closer to Jesus. His mentees love and respect him.

Fabián often says, "My job is not just to teach the students a subject. My main mission is to teach them to be honest citizens and to always walk closer to God."

He fears God and makes an effort to know Him better. He is a wonderful example to our staff. We want all of our teachers to continually advance in their relationship with Jesus and become living examples of His love on this earth.

Fabián strives to do this every day.
