Meet Samir: Ready for his Future!

In June 2022, we introduced Samir, a Honduran teenage boy who had dropped out of school and needed something productive to do. He enrolled in Lifeline's vocational training program.

Now, Samir is pleased to share how far he has come in life!

"As a very young boy, at age 10, I began to work as a bricklayer’s assistant to my father. Every day after school, I went to work for him. After 6th grade, I dropped out of school. Earning money was a higher priority.

"When I learned about Lifeline’s vocational training program, it grabbed my attention. To my surprise, I was not too young to join the program.

"There, I learned to weld and do electrical work. I enjoyed everything that I learned. I am proud to say that I completed the program!

Thanks to a North American church that helped create a vocational training center through Lifeline's Container Outfitting ministry, Samir is now a welder!

"Now, I am 16. I can earn money doing welding jobs. My neighbors often hire me. I can weld roofs, seal balconies, and do electrical installations. The pay is very good! And my skills are improving with every job that I do. I supplement my income by working at a food warehouse.

"I am very grateful to have been part of the vocational program. I hope to one day be a full-time welder or electrician which will pay a good salary!"
