Emily WongSherry serves on our Centre Mobilization Team.

You keep ministry momentum moving when you support the ministry of our stateside missionaries: our Lifeline staff who dedicate their lives 24/7 to restoring hope around the world. Your prayers and donations enable our staff to be your hands and feet, as God's love is shared through Lifeline's ministry communities!

Sherry shares:

My interest in missions started a long time ago when I was a child. I remember many Sunday nights sitting in our dark church auditorium watching slideshows from the various missionaries  who would visit. I loved to see the different people and places that were so very different from my life; however, one thread bound us together as one – Jesus.

I was fascinated by the missionaries’ faith, their adventures, and getting to see that God was SO much bigger than just my little corner of Kentucky. I never dreamed I would be able to go and share God’s love outside that little corner. In 2008, I was finally able to go on my first mission trip to China. My mind and heart were forever expanded.

God used that trip to prepare me in so many different ways. We worked with special needs children. This was out of my comfort zone, but the Holy Spirit melted my heart for them. All the while, He was preparing me for a special needs grandchild of my very own. My favorite memory of this trip was a worship service where the Chinese, North Korean, North American, Australian, and Russian Christians were all worshiping the same God, all in our own languages. What a picture of heaven!

A few years later, my husband and I went on a cruise. As we rode in our air-conditioned bus to our private beach in Honduras, I looked out my window and was moved by the contrast with the poverty just outside that window. I prayed to God that, “The only way I’ll come back here is on a mission trip!”

When I returned home, my good friend point blank asked me if I wanted to go to Honduras on a mission trip. I answered that I knew I was supposed to go! I have been so blessed to travel to Honduras through Lifeline and my church. The connections made with the churches there were deep and such a blessing. I have gone back several times and look forward to traveling there again. I love the leadership in Honduras. They are such examples of generosity and servanthood. They continue to be in my heart and my prayers.

I have been a part of several Lifeline meal pack events, so working with Lifeline’s Louisville Centre is exciting to me. I have worked in Advertising and Marketing for 40 years and look forward to this new challenge!

My husband, John, and I have been married for more than 40 years. Our two grown children are both married, and each have three children. They all live in the Louisville, Kentucky area. I treasure our family time and see my family and my grandkids as my first mission field. Excited to see what God has in store for this next chapter!
