Ben Smith

Emily WongBen serves on our Centre Mobilization Team.

You keep ministry momentum moving when you support the ministry of our stateside missionaries: our Lifeline staff who dedicate their lives 24/7 to restoring hope around the world. Your prayers and donations enable our staff to be your hands and feet, as God's love is shared through Lifeline's ministry communities!

Ben shares:

My favorite verse in the Bible has been a lighthouse, as I have walked with Jesus since I was 17. “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for the good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

Growing up in a broken family and with not much direction, I was not in the best place going into high school. I will never forget the first day of my sophomore year. A new teacher found me in the halls and asked if I was Ben Smith. Of course, I thought I was in trouble, but came to find out he had heard about my situation at home and school, and decided to reach out to me. His name was Ryan Gates, the new biology teacher and the new Young Life leader in my home town of Parker, Colorado. He invited me to what he said was a place to hang out with friends, play games, and learn about a guy named Jesus.

As the year went by, I made the decision to go to a Young Life summer camp at a place called Castaway Camp in Minnesota. That week eternally changed my life! I gave my heart to Jesus and knew immediately that I was called to minister to the lost and broken. I just did not know where to start.

From the age of 18 up to 38 years of age (yes 20 years!), the Lord was preparing me for this moment: the moment I would find Lifeline Christian Mission and God’s purpose for my life.

Along the journey, I have been blessed to be involved in a variety of ministries: college ministry, kids ministry, youth ministry, multiple prayer teams, and helping plant a church in Castle Rock where I live. Even with all the opportunities, I have always felt God’s call for me was not in the traditional sense of serving within the four walls of the church, but to reach those outside the church walls with a message of hope and of love that can only be found in Jesus.

So when I was introduced to Lifeline, the leadership, and staff, I knew I had found a home and the purpose God had called me to. I am so excited for this journey and all that will happen through this incredible ministry as we reach locally and globally offering the life-giving hope and love of Jesus!

I am blessed to have an amazing wife who has a heart for the Lord and the mission field, and five incredible kids who are active in our local church family. We are blessed to be a part of a strong community that believes in equipping and sending people out into their unique mission field. As I begin my journey with Lifeline I know I am exactly where I need to be and am so excited to see what God has in store!

As the Denver Centre Director, I welcome everyone to stop by to say hello and see what God is doing in this place. I would love to join and partner with you in your journey that God has set in motion in your life.
