The Nutrition Program: Changing Lives

In Haiti, caring and devoted parents work hard every day to provide for their families. But sometimes forces outside their control -- poverty, illness or circumstances -- prevent their children from thriving.

This is why Lifeline has an infant and children’s nutrition program in Haiti. The ages of 0-3 are critical years in a child's development. Since its inception, thousands of children have been through the program! Currently 200 little ones are receiving the help they need.

Just last week, 80 children came to the clinic with their parent or caregiver to be weighed, measured, and evaluated for general health. Our clinic staff pay special attention to signs of under- or malnourishment. The children may receive a supply of vitamins, formula, peanut butter, or baby cereal.

Over 200 infants and children are getting the nutrition they need to grow and develop!

But that's not all. The staff teach parents about child development so that they can be more aware of their child’s developmental needs and benchmarks. And the parents hear the gospel, are prayed over, and are invited to attend a Lifeline church.

Frequently, children who come to be weighed and measured also have a cold or other illness. Parents say how grateful they are to have their children’s health monitored and for the low cost of any needed medications.

It's always a time of celebration when a child "graduates" from the program! This happens when  nutritional needs are being consistently met at home and their growth and development are on course.

And at age three, many become Lifeline students as preschoolers. At school, they receive a daily vitamin-fortified nutritious meal.

This program has benefited not only the children in the program, but their parents and caregivers as well who realize that they are not alone and that God loves them unconditionally!

This nutrition program is funded by generous donors. You can help ensure that the nutrition program can meet the ever-present demand. Give a one-time donation or set up a recurring donation today!
